Space Station

This weeks Aistear was The Space Station.

Our station was located at the back of the classroom complete with space communication laptops, satellites, alien detectors and much more which they made using materials from the junk art box.

The children made paper rockets as well.

They learned about the planets, astronauts, comets, space shuttles etc.

Buzz Lightyear even dropped by for a visit and liked it so much that he stayed there.

Mini Beast Hunt

Junior Infants joined Siobhan on a Mini Beast Hunt today.

They took with them a minibeast checklist and some bug viewers.

They had great fun exploring around the yard.

They peeked under rocks and wood to find some bugs.

There was lots of excitement including a few screams.

Capacity

The children are learning about capacity in the classroom this week. They used a variety of containers and water.

We tested to see which container had more?

Who had less?

Who had the same amount?

Was the container full?

Was it half full?

Was it half empty?

Or was it empty?

We had great fun measuring out the water and we did have a few spills!!

PE Class and The Daily Mile

We had great fun in PE.

We were learning to use the hula hoops.

Every day we are partaking in the Daily Mile Challenge.

Our Yarn Covered Birds

We had such fun making these birds. We cut out the bird shapes and then wrapped them in yarn and then Siobhan hung them up on the ceiling. When the windows are open they dance in the breeze.

The Farm and Farm Shop

In this weeks Aistear we did the farm and farm shop.

The children created their own mini-farm using wooden and plastic blocks to create fields, sheds, walls and gates.

They used playdough to make animals and items of food.

They cut out different foods from Lidl and Aldi catalogues to create shopping lists to use in the farm shop.

They also used 2 tables to create a farm shop. They had fresh and plastic produce for sale including potatoes, bagels, cereals, empty milk cartons, etc.

They made paper plate cows with a variety of reusable materials.

Do you like our paper plate cows?
