Hello again boys and girls. I hope you and your
families are healthy and well and that you enjoyed last week’s activities.
I am so pleased with the huge amount of learning
that is going on at home. Thank you all
for sending me pictures of your fantastic work. You are all doing a great job.
There are lots more activities for you to do again
this week. I hope you enjoy them. As always, please just do what you are able
to do, there is no pressure to complete everything on the list.
I am looking forward to seeing some more of your
amazing work next week.
Keep helping Mammy and Daddy, be kind and caring to
each other. Get plenty of fresh air and don’t forget to keep washing those
hands often.
Take care,
Mrs.
O’Neill

Game
Time!
Use
your Tricky words to play the following games –
Tricky
word reveal- This game requires two pieces of
paper. Write a word from the list on a piece of paper. Then cover the word
completely with the other piece of paper. Slowly reveal the first letter of the
word. Ask your child if they can guess
what the word will be from looking at the first word.
Tricky
Word Hunt – You could write a few of these
words on pieces of paper and stick them up in a room in the house. Call out one of the words and you child can
go and search for it.
I
Spy – Similar to the ‘Tricky Word Hunt’
You could have a few words stuck up in a room. Tell your child ‘I spy a word
beginning with W. I spy a word ending in g’ etc.
Tricky Word Toss – This is a game that can
be played outside but you could also play it indoors. Write a few tricky words
on pieces of paper. Spread them out on the grass. Ask your child to throw
something soft e.g a ball onto a word. They then run to the word that they have
landed on and read it.
Maths

SPHE
– Junior and Senior Infants - for any day that you like
Here is a little time capsule activity for you to complete.
Time capsules save memories and information about the present that can be
rediscovered in the future. Their
purpose is to help us remember a certain time in our life. You can print this out at home if you are
able. Just click on the link below.

SESE
– Plants and Flowers
If
we are lucky enough to get some nice weather this week. Why don’t you try this plant and flower hunt
in your garden? You can use this
resource to help you as you look for the different plants and flowers - just click for a bigger version. Good
luck!
SESE – Science - Floating
and Sinking
Have a look at this video about floating and
sinking. Think about what items might float and what items might sink? Consider what materials they were made from. This week’s fun poem is called ‘Float or
Sink’ You can find it below. Replace the missing word with each of the items you chose for the experiment.
Carry out your own experiment to see what floats or
sinks
1 Fill a bowl with water and find a variety of
objects in your home or outside – these could be a ball, a brick, cutlery,
coins, lego piece. Whatever you can find.
To
finish – record by drawing items that sank and items that floated. Use the
activity sheet to help you if you like.
Before you start predict whether the item will
float or sink. Experiment with each item
one by one. As you place them in water, watch what happens.
